My Pitch
For my pitch, my first idea is to make an opening scene for a groundhog day themed film. I have always loved the idea of a main character reliving the same day over and over again. This is because there are so many variables that can change in one day. One day, the character could go about their normal life. The next they could travel to a completely different state or country and go berserk. In the end they always wake up in the same place, at the same time, and on the same day. The only downside is that these types of films can be predictable. However, the good side is that I am simply doing an opening and not an entire film. For my second idea I have decided to make an opening for a comedy-drama. At first I considered some other genre but in the end I decided to go with this one as my second idea because I like what I envisioned when I thought about the opening. I envisioned a montage of quick shots that established setting more than it did character. In the end, I decided to go with the first idea. In my mind I have a more clear picture of what I want to do with the first ideas. A compilation of shots that both introduce the main character and the setting. Whereas with the second I only have an idea of the feel the opening should give off. I also took into account how my first was probably the one I wanted more seeing as I thought of it before the second. Plus the first idea seemed to marinate more in my mind as I went about daily life. Based off of these distinctions I was convinced. So ultimately I went with it. Hopefully it turns out as I envisioned.
