Genre Decision

After consideration I have decided that the genre of my opening sequence will be comedy. Thrillers and horrors are good, but different. Creating an opening for one that conveys the genre to the audience can be bad if not done properly. The same goes for any genre. However, I feel that with comedy I can more easily envision an opening. In fact, I already have ideas. Whereas with horror I did not envision anything. And with thriller I could not think of something within the reach of my resources. Plus I feel that if I chose either of those genres I would focus so much on perfection that it would suck the fun out of the process. With comedy that problem is easily fixed seeing as creating something funny would have to be fun. If it is not then the end product will most likely be the reflection of the lack of fun. And since it is light-hearted and funny that I am going for I am able to weigh ideas that would usually seem so-so for other genres but could be within reach with this one. For example, I could go against certain comedy conventions while still establishing a successful opening sequence. I feel that if I had chosen one of the other genres I would not be able to do so. That's because the characteristics of those genres are hard to evade. They tend to be present even if you are actively trying to make it so it is not.  However, the characteristics of comedy in terms of CLAMPS are general enough to the point that you can create a fresh idea. Specifically the mise-en-scene. I feel that is one of the elements that compelled me to choose this genre. Now I will continue my research.
