CCR: Music Video

Image
My final product uses conventions by sort of sticking to the scenic route. Which is the path that indie music videos sometimes take. I kept it simple as well, but also included close ups which are common. I attempted to edit as if the viewer was inside of the video rather than simply viewing. Looking back I am not 100% confident that it turned out as amazing as I had hoped, but nevertheless I am proud of my work. The product challenged conventions in the sense that it did not include shots of a live performance or tell a developed story. It represents those who like the artist or the genre of indie music by taking elements from beloved music videos and implementing them into my own. However, it does not sufficiently represent any social issues. My video engages with audiences by attempting to immerse them through audio and visual stimulation. It engages with them as an attempt at art for both the eyes and the ears. It would be distributed as a real media text through social media ...

Music Video

Looking back on the project there are things I could have done better. I'll willingly admit that the process did not run as smoothly as I envisioned for this. And the end product was not what I originally imagined it be. All that considered I did learn new things. I learned or at least attempted to learn how to sync an audio to a video. I also learned a little about editing audio. Originally I was afraid to tamper with the audio because it could have possibly thrown off my entire project. But after a little exploration I figured out that it's possible to edit imported audio and video clip audio separately without doing irreversible damage. Ultimately I had fun with that part. Playing around with the editing is how I was able to stay within the time constraints. The hardest part of this process was filming. Or rather trying to match a take to the picture in my head. It turns out making your imagination your reality can be quite difficult. But it was fun to get outside for exten...

Editing Blog: Music Video

Image
Once I was done with filming, I compiled all of my takes together in an album. After gathering all of the footage I gave each scene a run through. I chose those that I thought were the best takes alone. And then uploaded them into the video editor on my phone. From the start I knew that all of the unedited footage together would exceed the maximum time length. Adding things such as transitions or cuts only made it longer. Because of this I first decided to condense some takes and even replace one scene. Since I was already having trouble with scene 5 I decided to replace it with a random shot I took that was not on my storyboard. It was ultimately shorter than the other scene and when edited seemed to fit more. I wanted the video to have a rhythm to it, but I was unsure about how I would go about creating one. Luckily, online searching works wonders. I was able to emulate a video explaining syncing audio to video. But first I had to edit the audi...

Filming Part Two: Music Video

Image
Over the course of the past two days I have been trying to get the "perfect" or at least a super decent one. Right now I am focusing on scene five after shooting scene six briefly before. My main concern is how much can be seen or how little. Since both shots are supposed to happen at night I have to be careful that there isn't too much darkness or too much light. And since the night sky isn't as vibrant with stars or the moon as it is in other places  (it often looks like the daytime but simply dimmer) I have to be keen to catch it when I can in order to have lighting or I'll somehow have to use other means. For scene six, I went around various parts of my front and backyard or the sides of my house trying to catch the moon in action. It's supposed to be a slow, zoom in low angle shot of the night sky. Hopefully with the moon as a guest star. I did a couple of takes but none of them were super noteworthy. I plan on doing more over the weekend when I'll h...
