Planning Blog: Music Video

 Props:

I do not think I will use props for the music video. Any things that are considered props that are seen in the video will most likely just be already in the setting or considered a natural part of the setting by me. This is because I do not think any chosen prop would be significant for the story or visual the music video is trying to tell or accomplish.

Costumes:

There will be no costumes. I do not think I will use an actor for this project unless it is myself. However, that possibility is slightly unlikely. This could change depending on my future circumstances.

Schedule:

On 11/16/20, I researched the genre of indie music and the codes and conventions of its music videos. I also did some research on the artists in hopes of solidifying what I felt was the vibe of their song and band.

On 11/17/20, I established what the props, costumes, and schedule were.

On 11/20/20, I will have created my storyboard for the music video and decided on location. I will also establish a backup plan after deciding on location.

On 11/22/20, I will have at least began filming.

On 12/1/20, I will have began editing and will be adding the final touches by 12/5/20.

I have chosen to decide on location and a backup plan later because I feel like those things will come easier to me once I am story-boarding how the music video will go. At the moment I find it hard to sit down and think through my ideas but when I put a visual to paper I think it will come more easily. I do not want to document these specific plans now because whatever I put down could very likely change.  I think that is it for now. Time to go put on my thinking cap.

 Today I went over the footage that I have. Since all of the shots had more than one take I wanted to thoroughly analyze each one on their own. First I looked at each take separately. Then I looked at each take when compared to the others. After choosing the ones I personally felt were the best I went to my family to ask their opinion. After hearing what they had to say, I then went to a few of my peers to ask their thoughts. My plan was to obtain feedback in order to make a good decision on which takes I should upload into the editor. Since uploading the footage to the computer can be quite the process I wanted to be sure I would not have to go back and replace any clips with another. I figure if that were to happen it would make editing more tedious.  I have been working on the last tidbit of editing. An obstacle occurred when my editing software crashed. It refused to reopen so I had to seek other means of regaining the work I had already done. I had to completely switch over to a different computer and relocate my footage in order to begin editing again. Since the names of the files were different on each computer I had to refer back to the files on the first one in order to decide which one needed to be added into the locate asset slot on my reopened editing software. Some files were created while in the software. Due to this, when saved they were not compatible for opening on the other computer. Ultimately I had to recreate them. However, that took little time so I quickly was back at the point I had planned to continue from. All of them were strictly audio anyway.   Props My main prop will be an unopened bottle of water. Other props that may be used are water. Costume I am debating on whether or not I would like to use an actor for at least one shot. If I do choose to use an actor then their costume will be simple. Shorts, t-shirt, running shoes,  or some other type of sports attire. However, if I do not then there would be no actor in my commercial and therefore no costume anyone needs to wear.
