First Scene: The first scene is an establishing shot. It will establish the setting before the advertised product is introduced. It will be a mid-shot rather than a long-shot in order to condense the and control the perfect setting for the commercial. Second Scene: Continuing on from the first scene the camera will then pan left to the product (the bottled water). Instead of a zoom in it will be a close up. The goal is to appeal to the visual idea of bottled water. The closeup will show the details of the water. For example, a droplet of water may roll down the bottle in order to show that it is ice cold. Third Scene: The camera will then slowly reverse zoom away from the bottled water. I want to widen the viewer's perspective. This is because I will be refocusing the camera away from the advertised product and make way into scene four. Scene Four: The camera will cut into a low angle mid-shot. An actor's legs and feet will be shown walking up to the bottled water. The bottled...

Props My main prop will be an unopened bottle of water. Other props that may be used are water. Costume I am debating on whether or not I would like to use an actor for at least one shot. If I do choose to use an actor then their costume will be simple. Shorts, t-shirt, running shoes,  or some other type of sports attire. However, if I do not then there would be no actor in my commercial and therefore no costume anyone needs to wear. Schedule On 10/22/20: I researched conventions and codes of bottled water commercials. On 10/23/20: I established props, costume, schedule, location list, and backup plan. On 10/25/2020: I will begin creating the storyboard for the commercial and it will be done by or before 10/27/20. On 10/27/2020: I will have started filming and recording the necessary shots for my commercial and that will be done before the night of 10/29/20.  On 10/29/20: I will begin the editing process. Adding or removing what needs to be removed. Giving the commercia...

Research Blog: Codes and Conventions

When we were first told to create a commercial I immediately began to think about what I wanted to advertise. After considering things such as accessibility, I began to narrow down my options. In the end I decided to do a water commercial. A bottled water commercial, to be more specific. After doing research, I learned that these commercials typically go one of two ways. They include people who are parched in some way (typically from physical activity). Or they do not include people, but rather include shots of bottled water, water, and color schemes that reflect water. If there are people in the commercial then their attire is usually sports/physical activity related. This could include, but is not limited to shorts, running shoes, and/or a t-shirt. Props include a water bottle and may/may not include other things such as some type of sports ball or climbing gear. Or other things needed in order to show physical activity if there is an actor included in the commercial. The appear...
